USOS
The University Student Support System is the result of cooperation between Poland's largest universities. The system was created as a result of the demand for a comprehensive IT tool for managing study affairs at a university.
Among the main applications of USOS are:
- University recruitment and matriculation,
- Electronic Student ID Cards (printing, renewal, etc.),
- preparation of teaching offerings (subjects, classes, groups, dates, presenters),
- management of the course of study (programs of study of all degrees and types, enrollment in classes, records of grades, credits, etc.),
- student applications
- theses and diploma examinations, electronic archiving of theses,
- scholarships,
- dormitories,
- payments for educational services,
- support for the Bologna Process,
- student internships,
- surveys,
- reporting,
- personnel matters (full-time and part-time employment, salary settlement, etc.),
- Career Office,
- university archives.
Thanks to the extensiveness of its applications, USOS acts as a central collection point for information from the entire university, which significantly improves the management of studies, enables the unification of university procedures, and allows for the effective introduction of university-wide initiatives, such as a common offer for students of all majors of optional subjects, lectures, physical education classes, certification exams, as well as the central authorization of students and employees in the university's web services, and the generation of index and diploma numbers unique at the university.
Storing data in digital form significantly reduces the number of traditional documents generated, allowing, among other things, the elimination of paper grade reports, exam papers, student applications and even indexes.
USOS is not only a centralized database operated by university administration staff. Associated with the system are a number of online services for university applicants, students and academics. They support many aspects of the university's operations remotely, which involves a significant reduction in the burden on administrative staff.
These services allow, among other things:
- registration of university applicants,
- reviewing teaching offerings and lesson plans,
- class registration,
- grading,
- communication of students and instructors within class groups,
- submission of applications,
- reservation of classrooms,
- collecting electronic versions of diploma theses,
- sharing resumes and viewing job offers.
Along with the University Student Support System, a number of web services dedicated to the university community at large are being developed, making the use of the resources of the centralized information system possible not only for administrative staff.
USOSweb - The online equivalent of USOS for students and academics to remotely handle matters related to the course of study.
mUSOS - is a mobile application that allows students and employees of the University, easy and quick access to their data in USOS and USOSweb. All the most important account functions are gathered in one intuitive interface.
APD /Thesis Archive/ - The service serves as a catalog and repository of electronic versions of thesis, engineering, master's and doctoral theses produced at the university.
UL /University Lectures/ - A service to register for classes available to students in all departments.
SRS /Room reservation System/ - A service for booking rooms on a university-wide basis. It allows efficient management of the use of all teaching rooms at a given university, as well as the costs associated with their rental.
