Vice-Rectors of the University of Agriculture in Krakow participated in the First Forum of Rectors of Polish and Turkish Universities
On 22 September 2025, the First Forum of Rectors of Polish and Turkish Universities was held at Gazi University in Ankara, with 23 universities representing the Polish side.
On behalf of URK, the conference was attended by Prof. Andrzej Sechman, Vice-Rector for Cooperation, and Prof. Marcin Rapacz, Vice-Rector for Science. The importance of the event was emphasised by the participation of Marcin Kluska, Minister of Science and Higher Education, and Maciej Lang, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Turkey. The Turkish side was represented by Prof. Dr Erol Özvar, President of the Turkish Higher Education Council, and rectors of over 20 universities and colleges. In one of the parallel sessions, in which Polish and Turkish universities from the fields of science, engineering and life sciences presented themselves, the educational and scientific potential of our university was presented. The University of Agriculture in Krakow plans to sign several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with leading Turkish universities, which will contribute to the development of cooperation in the field of research and development grants and student exchanges between URK and Turkish universities.
Vice-Rectors of the University of Agriculture in Krakow participated in the First FoW There are 208 universities in Turkey, 129 of which are public institutions, currently attended by approximately 350,000 foreign students from 198 countries. During the Polish-Turkish academic forum, the importance of mutual academic cooperation and mobility programmes was emphasised. One example is the Erasmus+ programme, under which Poland is the most popular destination for Turkish students. Our university also cooperates with 13 higher education institutions in Turkey within the Erasmus+ programme, which translates into a gradual increase in the number of Turkish students visiting our university.
During their stay in Ankara, our Vice-Rectors also participated in a meeting with Prof. Necdet Ünüvar, Rector of the University of Ankara, with whom our University has been cooperating for several years. The meeting, which took place on 20 September 2025 in the Rector's office, concerned the further development and strengthening of scientific and educational cooperation between our institutions.
