University of Agriculture in Krakow - participant of the international HARVEST project

15.04.2025

How can young people be interested in the profession of a farmer?

Modern didactics in the field of agricultural sciences need changes. A significant outflow of students interested in studying agricultural fields, and thus a decrease in interest in pursuing work in this sector, is also noticeable in countries outside the EU.

The HARVEST project is being implemented to create an ideal education model, in which the University of Agriculture in Krakow (URK) participates. We plan to develop joint didactic solutions with partners from Spain, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

The kick-off meeting of the HARVEST project (ERASMUS + project entitled "Higher Education Leadership on Agricultural and Food Rights for Environmental Sustainability") took place on April 7-11, 2025, in Seville. On behalf of URK, the meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Andrzej Sechman, vice-rector for cooperation; Ms. Dominika Dankiewicz, head of the International Relations Office; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Małgorzata Czernicka, coordinator of the Erasmus+ program from the Faculty of Biotechnology and Horticulture.

During the conference, URK representatives discussed the current state and prospects for the development of agriculture in Poland; they presented the role of URK in promoting organic farming, food security, and global actions in response to climate change.
