Series of lectures and seminars at the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina
At the beginning of December 2024, Jakub Piecuch, Ph.D., Prof. URK Faculty of Agriculture and Economics conducted a series of lectures and seminars at the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina, as part of the Erasmus programme.
Meetings with Argentine university authorities, academics and students addressed important economic issues linking Europe and South America:
- Producción Integrada de las Plantas. Explorando los beneficios de la certificación
(Integrated crop production - the benefits of certification) - Beneficios y costes de un acuerdo de mercado común entre la UE y MERCOSUR
(Benefits and costs of a common market agreement between EU countries and MERCOSUR) - Desarrollo de la agricultura polaca y de la UE: oportunidades de colaboración con el sector agrario argentino (Development of Polish and EU agriculture: opportunities for cooperation with the Argentine agricultural sector)
The lectures were complemented by talks on future cooperation and a visit to Argentina's largest frozen fruit producer Alif Distribuciones SRL (alifberries.com.ar).
Visits to soft fruit, sugar cane and lime plantations provided interesting information about local production. It is worth knowing that the lemonade we drink often contains limes that come precisely from Tucumán, the world leader in their production.
