Agricultural University invited to join the Global Coalition for Ukrainian Studies
On Wednesday, September 3, representatives from Ukraine visited the office of the Rector of the University of Agriculture, Dr. Sylwester Tabor, Prof. URK. The meeting was attended by Vyacheslav Voynarovsky, Consul General of Ukraine in Krakow, and Valentyna Kuzmin, Vice-Consul of Ukraine in Krakow. Prof. Andrzej Sechman, PhD, Eng., Vice-Rector for Cooperation at the University of Agriculture in Krakow, was also present.
During the meeting, the Consul General of Ukraine officially extended an invitation to the Hugo Kołłątaj University of Agriculture to join the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies (GCUS). This is an international initiative launched by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and the Educational Foundation of the International Ukrainian School in Brussels.
The coalition brings together more than 70 universities and academic institutions from five continents, creating a dynamic network for the exchange of knowledge, research, and educational projects. Its main goal is to strengthen Ukrainian studies around the world by combining scientific initiatives, supporting research, and disseminating knowledge about Ukraine, including the Crimean Tatars and other indigenous peoples of Ukraine.
Joining GCUS gives you the opportunity to, among other things:
• gain comprehensive access to an international bank of teaching and research resources (scientific literature, online courses, teaching aids for Ukrainian studies),
• participation in international grant consortia and academic exchange programs,
• implementation of research projects and mobility programs for students and academic staff within a network of over 70 member universities,
• institutional support in preparing conferences, seminars, summer schools, and thematic programs dedicated to Ukraine,
• cooperation with Ukrainian state archives, libraries, and research institutes,
• nomination for Ukrainian state awards for contributions to the development of Ukrainian studies.
The Consulate General of Ukraine in Krakow declared its full readiness to support the process of the Agricultural University's accession to the Coalition, emphasizing that membership in GCUS is not only a matter of prestige and distinction, but also a unique opportunity to develop international cooperation and deepen academic relations with Ukraine.
